Intended to provide an artificial airway to establish airway patency and to provide maintenance of the airway. Longer length allows use in a greater range of patient sizes, from average to larger necks. Soft PVC material (tube, flange and cuff) helps minimize posterior and anterior tracheal wall trauma. 15 mm connector on tracheostomy tube makes inner cannula use optional, so ventilation can occur without requiring the inner cannula to deliver oxygen. Tapered distal tip creates a smooth transition from loading obturator to trach tube outer diameter, helping minimize insertion force.
