Description
- Use Alcian blue to stain acidic mucus and acetic mucins
- In mesothelioma, excessive amounts of nonsulfated acidic mucus will be observed
- These phlegm are present in normal amounts in the walls of the blood vessels, but increase in early lesions of atherosclerosis
- Blue color is due to presence to copper in the stain
