North Coast Medical Omega Black Thermoplastic Splints
Create strong, polished splints in less time.
Resistance to Stretch
Maximum resistance to stretch.
Omega Black can be stretched and pulled around curves without thinning or growing out of control.
Good for infrequent or novice splinters.
Drape
Minimum drape.
Use firm handling to make large or small contours.
Ideal for splinting clients who are unable to cooperate due to spasticity or non-painful contractures.
Memory
Moderate memory helps hold the formed shape when reheated.
Makes smooth, sealed edges if cut when warm.
Rigidity
Maximum rigidity.
Upper and lower extremity splints will hold their position even against strong pressure or hypertonicity.
Bonding
Traditional coating prevents sticking to bandages or accidental bonding.
A wet bond can be pulled apart easily when cool.
Permanent bond using solvent and dry heat.
Surface Finish
Maximum resistance to fingerprints. Can tolerate aggressive handling, resulting in a semi-glossy appearance.
If pressure or wrappings are removed while Omega Black is still warm, marks will disappear from the surface.
Applications
1/8" thickness is recommended for larger areas, i.e. spasticity splints, lower extremity positioning splints, back supports and for serial static splinting.
3/32" thickness makes excellent fitting wrist and hand splints.
Working Time (1/8")
Sets up in three to four minutes at 160° F (71°C). Sets up quickly, saving time when splinting frightened or non-compliant patients.
