North Coast Medical Aircast Cryo/Cuff System
Apply compression and cold therapy over wound dressings.
Features:
Consists of three components: a cuff that covers the affected area, a cooler that holds ice and water for 6 to 8 hours of cryotherapy and a tube that exchanges water between the cooler and the cuff.
Use following surgical procedures, acute inflammation, edema due to trauma and pain reduction for sprains, strains and tendinitis. Especially effective following arthroscopic procedures.
Elevating the cooler fills and pressurizes the cuff. Compression is controlled by gravity and is proportional to the elevation of the cooler (one inch of elevation equals 1.8mm Hg pressure). The optimal amount of compression varies among individuals and the sensitivity of the injury. Rechill the water in the cuff once an hour, or as needed. Skin temperature ranges from 50° to 60° F (10° to 15°C) with cuff use.
Cuffs are available for the Hand/Wrist, Foot/Ankle, Elbow, Knee, and Shoulder.
Pain may be reduced by early and extended use of the Cryo/Cuff compression dressing. In a study of post-operative pain therapy, the use of the Cryo/Cuff was compared with continuous crushed ice and with Hot Ice therapy. In both comparisons, Cryo/Cuff patients required significantly less narcotic analgesics.
Cryo/Cuff System includes the Hand/Wrist Cuff, Cooler & Tube.
