Designed as a fun way to increase hand hygiene compliance and ensure hands are being washed properly, the GlitterBug can be used in two ways:
- Use it to show whether hand sanitizer was correctly applied: Squirt the GlitterBug Potion onto your hands and rub it around like you would hand sanitizer, then shine the GlitterBug SpotShooter, GlitterBug GlowBar, or GlitterBug Center on your hands. Any area not glowing is an area that was missed and signifies germs left on your hands.
- Use it to show missed spots during handwashing: Rub the potion into your hands, making sure to get nailbeds, the front and back of your hands, and in between fingers. Once completed, wash your hands with soap and water, dry them, then shine the GlitterBug SpotShooter, GlitterBug GlowBar, or GlitterBug Center onto your hands. Any areas still glowing are areas that were missed during handwashing and still harbor germs.
The GlitterBug is a great training tool for all staff and visitors.
